Senator Abshir Bukhari Opened A New School For The Blind And Distributed Mobility Equipment To The Blind People In Galmudug State Adado.
Senator Abshir’s Constituent Office opens a new school for the bland people its first time in Central region of Somalia Galmudug State Adado district and also he has distributed a mobility equipment like white canes to visually impaired people in Adado.
This office which is founded by Senator Abshir, the Deputy Speaker of Somalia’s Upper House and Somalia’s first elected senator, has opened this school for the bland and distributed 15 white canes to visually impaired people in Adado. The office has also given a short training to the beneficiaries as to how to use these White canes.
These materials will for sure boost their lives by giving them new adventures they are yet to experience in their lives. They have also been mentored by other visually impaired people that the office has brought from Mogadishu to facilitate the training.
The office which inaugurated the institute for the blind people of Adado on 29th of October, 2017 envisions the learning centre as a hub to educate, inspire and give blind people everything they need to prosper in this challenging and ever changing environment. Senator Abshir, a renowned philanthropist, has been helping the disadvantaged people even before he was elected to Somalia’s Senate.
Blindness is a major health problem in Somalia. The estimated blindness prevalence rate is 1.2% and more than 100 000 people suffer from visual impairment. Cataract remains the major cause of blindness in the country. Other causes are corneal opacity, refractive errors and glaucoma.
