Mogadishu: on 19th August 2017 UK minister of the state of the department of international development also minister of the state of foreign and commonwealth office MR Rory Stewart met with some leaders of civil society organizations across the country, and that session took place at British Embassy in Mogadishu Somalia. The meeting faced on, how to promote the civil society engagement to the government as well as international community.
Minister Rory heard civil society’s perspectives and how they collaborate with the government as well as international Community in Somalia. The Chairman of Somali Disability Empowerment Network (SODEN) Mr Mohamed Farah took his speech at the meeting. “First of all I thanked British embassy for their initiation during London conference in May 2017, also I gratefully for UK Embassy in Somalia how committed to supporting Somalia particularly people with disability, today I want to impress that the British embassy is only Embassy that realized and considered for the disable rights in Somalia”
Mr Rory felt more miserable, during Farah’s remarks concerning about as the way Somalis treat for disabled people. Mr Farah mentioned an astonishing issue, that there is no single person who represented for disabled people in upper and lower houses of federal parliaments of Somalia and mentioned that disabled people need to stand with them through the advocacy and awareness-raising.
However. UK minister of the state of department of international development and state minister of foreign and commonwealth office Mr Rory confess that UK mission in Somalia Partner with international community should not accept an intentional discrimination against disabled people in Somalia.
It was 8th Aug 2017 when Mr Farah Met UK ambassador to Somalia and discussed together how UK humanitarians and development aid can make an inclusive response after Mohamed Farah told the ambassador David Concer the concerns of disabled people about being an exclusion from the humanitarian industries. UK Government supports the government of Somalia to improve good governance, fighting corruption, humanitarian and development aid.
